Just Announced! An Original Showcase…

Hey! Just announced – I’ll be performing an original showcase at The Backstage Lounge on Granville Island. The Backstage Lounge is the best place to see me play my original music. In a comfortable & beautiful lounge setting, this performance will be a combination of acoustic & looper pedal stylings… and possibly a piano ballad or two… Looking forward to seeing your face!

Dance All Night To The Disco Beat…

Here’s a little track that i improvised last year. While my friend DJ SteveTheCreativeIndividual was spinning at a party, he asked me to sing with him. The track is “Sad Piano” by Ben Watt, and the lyrics are from a song of mine called “Just Want To Love You”, a song on my forthcoming debut album.  Enjoy…

Jupiter 4

We decided to rent a vintage keyboard to add some flavour to one of the album tracks. So we got this Roland Jupiter 4, and learning how to use it and recording it was a hell of a lot of fun. I had originally thought it was from 1971, but as it turns out they were built in ’78-’81. Who knew? :-)

Shooting Stars, Phosphoresence, & Savannah’s Southern Charms

I’ve been so fortunate in my life, to be able to travel to some pretty cool places. Many of which I had wanted to see for a long time. And today, I got to cross another one off my list – Savannah, Georgia.

I’m on tour with Bjorn Again, again…and we are playing 6 shows in Hilton Head, South Carolina. It’s a beautiful coastal island in the south of South Carolina, just about an hour from Savannah. Temperatures have been soaring, it’s been muggy and fantastic.

The first night we played, our show went so great, and we were all so happy to be on tour again and be able to see eachother again, that we ended up having one hell of a party afterwards. I can tell you, I wasn’t so happy when I woke up the next morning…ahem…BUT, let me give you the highlights. A few of us ended up on the beach, late at night after all the food had been eaten and the wine hand been drunk. We thought a late night swim would be perfect. Well, frankly, it was. The water is bath temperature, and even though we couldn’t see a damn thing, it was ultra-fantastical. About half an hour into our swim I noticed the water was becoming phosphorescent. Now this was a FIRST for me! I had never swam in phosphorescent water before. You could splash the water all around, and on your body, and it would just sparkle and glow in the dark. Amazing. And then on top of that, suddenly there were bucketloads of shooting starts. A meteor shower I guess? We saw so many we lost count, and each one was just huge, with a big long tail, just shooting across the black night sky. Truly a night to remember. Too bad I had to be reminded about most of it the next day on our way to the gig…LOL. I guess my memory just needed a little jog. I’m glad they reminded me, because that was truly one of the most fun nights of my life. Swimming at night, in phosphorescent, warm water, with wonderful friends, and shooting stars flying around above us. Yeah, that definitely ranks pretty far up there.

:-)

So, today we took a little day trip into Savannah, where we walked all around the city, had lunch at an Oyster Bar, and visited some pretty amazing sights. We took lots of pics in Savannah today – check them out HERE!

Oh – and P.S.  - there will be a video blog on the way about this! Just a little montage of our day trip! Stayyyy tuned…

“Fly on the Wall” LIVE @ The Red Room

We did a bit of filming & picture-taking at my last show at The Red Room in Vancouver. What a super fun show, a great night all around. The Red Room is my new favorite place to play in Vancouver! (It didn’t hurt that it was my birthday and I’d already had a wicked fun day including a picnic and some golf.) Here’s some footage from the night! More to come…

Gestapo Headquarters

IMG_2767I just took a tour through the old Gestapo Headquarters in Warsaw, Poland. Quite horrific and disturbing, to stand in the cells where prisoners would be held for weeks and months, questioned relentlessly to testify, and beaten, tortured, and often murdered. To actually stand in those cold rooms, see the scratching and writing on the walls, and hear the floor boards creak under my own feet, was unimaginably creepy. I have posted some pics on my facebook page here

Szparka!

Little bit R-rated on this one…just a fair warning. We’re having a late night drink/dinner at Cafe Szparka in Warsaw, Poland…while I secretly film my bandmates & friends.. and there is some slang involved. :-)
